Jawas/Flaxseeds chutney

Jawas/Flax seeds or Alsi in Hindi has numerous health benefits. It helps in controlling cholesterol and lowering blood pressure. Flax seeds are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and dietary fibre. It also contain high quality protein. 

This chutney is regularly made in Maharashtrian households. It is very easy to make and can be eaten in every meal. 


Ingredients-

1) 1 cup Jawas/Flaxseeds


2) 10-12 garlic cloves


3) 1 tsp jeera/cumin
4) 3/4 tsp salt
5) 1/2 tsp chilli powder

Salt and chilli powder can be adjusted according to your liking and taste.


Method-

1) First of all dry roast flax seeds in a thick bottomed pan till you get to hear the popping sound. You have to roast it for 4-5 minutes.



2) Let it cool down before grinding.

3) In a grinder first add garlic, jeera and only 2 tbsp flax seeds and grind it coarsely.

                


 Then add remaining flaxseeds, salt and chilli powder and grind it. Do not grind it into a fine powder but keep it coarse.  And the chutney is ready:-)



 Eat it along with dal-rice or roti-sabji and dal.
